Wedding Stories
Countless memories have been made within these walls over the past years. Once in a while, we are fortunate enough to have past guests and their families reach out to us to share memories, photos, and stories. There is nothing like hearing about precious memories that were made here. It is even more special when photos are shared!
Mr. & Mrs. Stiner
Bernice Treptow and John Stiner met in Milwaukee, Wisconsin during Summerfest in 1946, when John, who was in the U.S. Navy, was in town to give tours to interested visitors in the Navy communications mobile unit. They became engaged in the Fall of 1947, knowing that they wanted to get married in December 1947 prior to John having to report back for duty in Florida in January 1948.
Immediately following the wedding ceremony, a dinner was held for the wedding party at the Boulevard Inn at Steuben Square. The celebration of John and Bernice Stiner's marriage continued at the Ambassador Hotel (which was the most beautiful hotel in town) with a reception attended by their family and friends in the Embassy Room. Guests enjoyed drinks and a delicious, white, five-layer wedding cake that was decorated with white poinsettias and a cake topper resembling the newly married couple.

Mr. & Mrs. Van Buskirk
Mr. & Mrs. Van Buskirk who celebrated their wedding at the Ambassador Hotel in 1961. Their wedding reception took place in what is now the Fitz's dining room. Mrs. Van Buskirk shared photos, invitations, receipts, newspaper clippings and more with us! We also were lucky enough to help them celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary in 2011 here at the hotel. They graciously took the time to sit down with us and share some of their memories on video back in 2011 as we were planning their 50th anniversary party together.
Mr. & Mrs. Moore
From 1967 to 2018...Nick and Kathy Moore have been Ambassador Hotel VIP's for 51 years. They visited us and brought along a photo from their wedding reception, which was held at the Ambassador Hotel on April 8, 1967.
AH: "Do you have any specific memories from the reception or the hotel that stand out when you reminisce?"
Mr. Moore: "A memory was that the Ambassador was a beautiful place to be on that special day. The second was as I mentioned was that my father introduced us to the hotel manager and he presented us with a key to a room and said that we could use it as needed. The Ambassador hospitality has not changed in all these years..."

Clyde and Carol who celebrated their wedding at the Ambassador Hotel on June 21, 1969! Their reception took place in what is now the Embassy Room. Mr. and Mrs. Rymer has generously shared this wonderful photo as they left the Ambassador Hotel after their wedding reception.
They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in The Fitz with friends and also stayed overnight here at the hotel. We surprised them with champagne at their table and wine & cheese in their room. We hope they had a wonderful 50th wedding anniversary celebration!
